The sole survivor of a bandit attack on her family's farm, Oryara was found by a travelling monk and taken back to his monastery, where she was initially meant to be nothing more than a guest until she was either adopted by a family, or grew to marriageable age and found a suitable husband. However, deeply scarred by the slaughter of her family, Oryara was determined to learn the fighting arts of the monk, for she swore that she would become powerful so that no one she loved would ever have to suffer, again. The monks were initially skeptical. She was strong, yes, but she tended towards clumsiness. However, her determination was plain as she argued that too much reliance upon weapons other than her body and armor other than the clothes on her back may be more harmful to her, in the long run. This, ultimately, won the approval of the doubting monks, for she obviously understood the true intent of the monk's path. But whether or not she will be able to overcome her perceived handicaps, only time will tell.
